About the event
Want to try film photography but don't know where to start? Or maybe you've shot one or two rolls but need a refresher? Whatever your situation may be, Alex and Ross, owners of Not Quite North, are going to teach you the ins and outs of 35mm film photography so you can get snapping this summer!
No matter how experienced you are, this workshop has been designed to guide you through the essential steps of getting started with film photography - from showing you how to properly load and unload film, to showing you what all those weird buttons do & everything in between.
This workshop will provide you with the knowledge and confidence you need to understand and use your film camera effectively.
Throughout the workshop, we will cover a wide array of topics, including both point-and-shoot cameras and manual cameras, as well as different types of lenses. We will also delve into the different types of film, discussing their characteristics and how they can influence the outcome of your photographs. No more guessing - after this you'll know exactly what kit and what film to use to get the photo that you want.
Participants will receive:
1 roll of film, allowing you to experiment and practice your skills without the worry of additional costs
development of that film, enabling you to see the results of your efforts and learn from them
a camera (if needed), so that you can participate in the workshop even if you do not own a camera yet
By the end of this workshop, you will know your film speed from your shutter speed, your primes from your zooms, and your left from your right.
You'll also leave with a cheat sheet of what you have learned, a roll of developed film and if you bought your own camera, a camera you know how to use!
