Lomo MC-A: A(nother) New Film Camera for 2025

Strap in, because the film camera game just got a little wilder. Lomography’s just dropped something new: the Lomo MC-A, a 35mm compact that’s built like a proper little beast and priced around £450. Yep, a brand-new film camera in 2025. Feels good to say that, doesn’t it?

This thing’s a solid bit of kit, a full metal body, proper dials, and a 32mm f/2.8 multi-coated ‘Lomo glass’ lens that promises images with that perfect mix of sharpness and charm. It’s got both autofocus and manual zone focus (as close as 0.4 m if you fancy a close-up), and you can shoot in full auto, aperture-priority, or full manual if you’re feeling clever. There’s even bulb mode, multiple exposures, and a PC sync socket for when you want to get fancy with flash.

In other words, it’s not some nostalgia cash-in; it’s a real, working camera that actually wants to be out in the world. ISO goes right up to 3200, so it’s happy in a dim bar or under the moody streetlights of Lincoln. And with a metal body weighing just over 300 grams, it’s got that sweet balance between durable and everyday carry friendliness.

What’s great about this is that it follows the little wave we’ve been seeing, new analogue gear like the Rollei 35AF earlier this year. Suddenly, film isn’t just something you find in your grandad’s cupboard. It’s alive, fresh, and being built again.

At Not Quite North, this is exactly the kind of thing that gets us buzzing. Our shelves are already packed with second-hand 35mm beauties, medium format workhorses, and those weird, wonderful oddballs you’ll never find online. We’ve got rolls of film ready to load (including those from Lomography!), and that familiar smell of chemistry (and coffee) that hits you the second you walk in.

So if the Lomo MC-A sounds like your kind of trouble, keep an eye on the website or drop by the shop on Guildhall Street. Maybe we’ll get one in for you to try, or maybe you’ll leave with something older, cheaper, and just as charming.

Either way, it’s about picking up a camera, loading a roll, and chasing a bit of magic.

Film’s not coming back. It’s already here.
